Brooklyn, Baby

There comes a time in many a New Yorker's life that they make "the transition." I am not speaking of a transition into lunacy or a state of constant emotionless routine. I am speaking of the transition from self-righteously located Manhattanite to self-righteously humble Brooklyner.

Ross and I jumped the bridge and now reside in Bushwick. For those of you who don't know where that is, Bushwick is one stop on the JMZ subway before the Land of Narnia. My leisurely walks through the Chinatown market to my midtown penthouse office (always gotta make myself look better than i am, by the way) are over. Now, I sit on the subway and transfer (yes, I said it, TRANSFER) to another subway in a commute that totals an hour. I get off the subway reaking of common. I have to update my iPod playlist every other day because I've heard every song a million fucking times due to my epic commute every morning.

However, there is a good part. The place is massive. We don't have curtains yet, but when we do, we can walk around the apartment naked (you love picturing that, don't you, mom?). We can play music as loud as we want to. Ross can lay on the floor and with his arms outstretched (this seems like something pointless but he does it quite often and it is a great source of pleasure for him).

The neighborhood is a bit ghetto but I am growing to love it. This past weekend, I got a manicure, pedicure, massage and eyebrow wax for $30. Total. The fact that I will probably get robbed once a week will be offset by the huge savings I am getting through the reduced salon prices and 25 cent bags of Doritos (thats right).

Don't worry, friends. We will still be in Manhattan frequently at all our favorite haunts. Just be sure to give us a few days in a advance when you want to meet up.

Life is GRAND

So, my promises of more frequent blogs did not come into fruition but I thought it would be nice to throw a bone to my vast, starving audience. Since my last blog entry, I have done three things that I vowed never to do:

-Got married (again). To Ross, the hands-down LUCKIEST guy on Earth (and most funny, gorgeous, wonderful...);

-Moved to Brooklyn (yeah, its not Manhattan...hell, its not even Williamsburg, but we have loads of space and a train flies by our window every 10 minutes - classy);

-Decided to finish my legal studies (hey, I'm still managing bands but I feel its nice to have a $100K salary to have on the side rather than one too low to mention).

I am ridiculously happy. Also, I just got a raise with more lax duties so I will have more time to blog (honestly, if you fell for that promise before, you're stupid if you fall for it again).

Until next time, follow your gut every time.

Freedom!

So I finally confronted reality and my gut instincts. I've made the decision to take a one year leave of absence from law school and start focusing on the things that I love. Right now, I live in one of my favorite cities in the world in a small apartment full of the best pseudo-family I could ever ask for, I work for two great bands that have limitless potential, I have all my limbs, and I have the most amazing boyfriend in the world. The $100,000 debt I've incurred whilst coming to this point is just a minor obstacle on the way to my final end of complete world domination.

So now is the fun part. I get to re-invent mys entire life. I'm still going to have my company but now I can do it from anywhere and live however I want and stay up as late as I want. I have no bed-time. I don't necessarily need to bathe everyday. I feel completely liberated...except for the massive debt and the fact that I might need to get a part-time job. But thats not the point.

Ok, now that I have my creative freedom back, I will have more blogs up soon and see my friends more and have better jokes.

ouch

I know I haven't written in over a month and I apologize that my first entry out of hiatus is going to be about a poor Vietnamese girl (who must been trafficked to have ended up in such a career) ripping the hair out of my genitals.
So, I decided to get my first Brazilian wax. It should be fine, right? Nope. Real quick? Nope. Maybe it is due to my Italian heritage...maybe she was just inexperienced...or maybe I'm a pussy but as she unsympathetically rifled every follicle out of my nether-regions, never before had I wished more that I was no longer alive.
In the end, I don't know who is braver: me for going through this excruciatingly painful procedure or the poor waxer girl who has to spread hot wax on strange ass cracks day in and day out. Either way, I would recommend a Brazilian Wax to anyone...who has ever stolen from me or who has ever called me around dinner time soliciting a long distance calling program.

The Verdict: Would I do it again? Of course. No shaving for two weeks is worth a jack knife in my cheek.

Because of the shame and sadness that their World Cup loss has brought them, Mother Nature has decided to end England's misery by literally melting them off of the planet.
Seriously---it has been 95 degrees for the third day in a row. Air conditioning is not standard here. I just woke up at 5am from the heat and had to take a cold shower.
Or maybe I have died and gone to hell. That wouldn't be surprising considering my lifestyle and the fact that I still can't remember which way to look when I cross the street.
Pray for me and Michael Caine and Scary Spice! We need you!
